Why My Nintendo is abysmal.

I know, I know, I’m moaning about Nintendo’s free rewards programme however My Nintendo has been around for years and it still hasn’t improved. All the rewards are either themes for the 3DS, discounts for the 3DS or Wii U, rewards for mobile games and wallpapers, print-it-yourself covers for switch games and screensavers. You can also use gold points that you BUY GAMES WITH to get Switch eShop credit. The sad thing about it is that 1 Gold Point is 1 cent. If you buy a game digitally for example $59.99, you will get 300 Gold Points or an average of $3 a game if you buy it digitally which means you have to buy 20 $60 games just to get one big box $60 game digital-only. Physical games are even worse, instead of getting 5% of digital software payments through Switch, 3DS and Wii U, you get 1%. 1%! Instead of $3 for a $60 game it’s $0.60 for a $60 game!

The Rewards

My Nintendo Picross – The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Flipnote Studio 3D are the currently only games you can get through it for free. I have both of these games and while they are exclusive to the 3DS, they are both actually good and while I prefer Flipnote Studio on the DSi, FS3D is still good. Zelda Picross is also good however there are free Picross games on the eShop like Pokemon Picross. There are other rewards like themes again only on the 3DS, crappy backgrounds and Switch covers and discounts on old games from the 3DS but finally, rewards for mobile games. There’s nothing here for the Switch.

I’m fully expecting My Nintendo to shut down soon after the 2DS is retired unless Nintendo brings tons of Switch content to the service.
